Before you start
- Start the property subscription first.
- Decide whether to connect an existing Stripe account or create a new one.
- Have the business and payout information Stripe may request.
Manual payments vs online checkout
Manual payments let guests send booking requests while your team collects payment outside CampGrid. Online checkout asks guests to pay by card through Stripe during the booking flow.
You can launch with manual payments first, then enable Stripe later. This is often the fastest path when Stripe verification is not done yet or when staff still wants to approve every request.
Connect Stripe
Stripe setup happens per property from the Payments page.
Steps
- 1Open Payments.
- 2Find the property row.
- 3Choose Connect existing Stripe account or Create a new Stripe account.
- 4Complete the Stripe flow.
- 5Return to CampGrid.
- 6Wait for the property to show Stripe ready for charges and payouts.
- 7Turn on online checkout for that property.
If Stripe is connected but pending
Connected does not always mean ready. Stripe may still need identity, business, bank, or terms information before charges and payouts are enabled.
While pending, keep manual payments on. The public booking page can still collect requests, and you can switch to online checkout after the property is payout-ready.
Deposits and balances
Payment rules live under Property setup -> Booking settings -> Payments. You can collect the full amount at checkout or collect a deposit with a scheduled balance due date.
When Stripe payments are on, guests can pay balances from their reservation link. If automatic balance collection is enabled, CampGrid saves the payment method during checkout and tries the scheduled charge on the due date.
Stripe test mode
In local development and staging, Stripe may ask for test verification data. Do not enter real personal identity information in Stripe test mode.
